If your inbox is disorganized, archiving emails can help you stay organized and concentrate on the most important messages. However, there are situations in which you may need to access a previous conversation or may have inadvertently archived an important email. In this guide, we will explain how to retrieve archived emails in Gmail.
On Android
- Open the Gmail app.
- Tap on the Hamburger icon.
- Tap on All mail.
- Next, locate the archived email and press it to access it.
- Tap on the menu (three dots) icon.
- Select Move to Inbox.
On Desktop
- Open Gmail.
- Click on More, then click on All Mail.
- Locate the archived email you wish to access, then click on it.
- From the top of the screen, select the Move to Inbox icon.
- By doing this, the email will be returned to your primary inbox from the archived folder.
How to Delete Archived Messages in Gmail
- Follow steps 1–3 from the above-given heading on How to Retrieve Archived Emails in Gmail.
- Next, tap on the Delete icon.
- A pop-up will appear; tap OK to confirm the action.
Unless you actively delete it or elect to transfer it back to your inbox, emails that you archive in Gmail remain there forever.
